As a follow-up to the recent briefings that you may have received from DC Housing Authority staff, the purpose of this message is to update you on the next step in our effort to reengineer the waitlist. DCHA is launching a 100-day campaign to reach out to the over 72,000 applicants currently on the list to make sure their information is current and that they are still in need of housing assistance.
On Friday, May 16, 2014, DCHA will begin the first wave of multiple contacts with applicants on the waiting list. With the exception of applicants who have been in touch with DCHA in the past year (these applicants are already considered active), everyone on the list will be targeted using an extensive outreach campaign that will include notices sent by email and traditional mail, visibility and direct contact in the community through posters, signage, and information circulated through the community. To support the outreach, DCHA will also work with elected and other community leaders as well as conduct an extensive media campaign to increase people's awareness of the opportunity to confirm their housing needs.
Much like the successful collaboration with our sister agencies and community partners when we initiated the first phase of reengineering the waiting list last year, DCHA is relying on you, to help us reach out to those who are currently on our waiting list. If applicants approach your organization for help, please guide them through the online questionnaire at <www.dchousing.org/NOW> to complete the update or encourage them to contact DCHA for further assistance. Attached is an FAQ that will help answer some basic questions about this process. Applicants may contact DCHA through the following methods:
* Online <www.dchousing.org/NOW>
* By Mail
* By Phone - 202-535-1000
Receipts for completed online updates can be printed and/or mailed to their current address.
We thank you in advance for your assistance and look forward to continuing our work with you to assist our mutual clients. If you have any questions please contact DCHA's Office of Public Affairs and Communications at 202-535-1000.
