I took a quick bike ride through Anacostia Park this afternoon. The river was higher than I had ever seen it and very muddy. Along most of the river between Benning Road and South Capitol Street the river was over or at the sea wall level. The first photo was taken around noon and the last in the series at about 1:00pm. Part of the road near the roller skating rink still had some standing water over the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail path. I could not get a good photo but there is a large log jam of trash and organic debris behind the CSX railroad bridge. Two fishers near the boat launch said that a small tug boat had passed and seemed to attempt to sweep/collect the trash from the surface. There is also a lot of trash in the river near the 11th Street Bridge and all along the banks.
